Ruth Hoover Horton, 90, of Indianapolis passed away at 12:20 a.m., Monday, October 20, 205 at Greenwood Health and Living. She was born in Fentress County, Tennessee on February 21, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Sarah Pittman Hoover. She was married to William Horton on February 13, 1972 and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1998. Survivors include two daughters Dawn Ortega and Marla Seats both of Indianapolis; grandchildren Dustin (Jessica), Jordan (Karen), Jeremy (Jordyn), Raquel, and Alex Ortega, and Jennifer and Amber Seats; 8 great-grandchildren Olivia, Jael, Chaleab, Rhys, and Scottlyn Ortega, and Ari, Marley, and Shyler Seats; one brother Henry (Alice) Hoover of Tennessee; one sister Eloise Bow of Jamestown, Tennessee. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Anna Hoover Hounshell and Mary Hoover. Mrs. Horton was a beautician for 60 years and owned the Gallatin Road Beauty Shop and more. She loved and cared for everyone that she knew. Ruth was saved by faith in Jesus Christ at and early age and was baptized near Allardt, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 22 at the Benham United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will also be on Wednesday at the church beginning at 11 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Benham Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
