Robert R. Walterman, Jr., (Bob) sadly left us on June 30, 2023 following a lengthy battle with cancer at home with his family by his side.
Bob was born on November 4, 1946 to Robert Walterman, Sr. and Mary C. Charles Walterman in Batesville, Indiana. He graduated from Batesville High School in 1964.
During Bob’s life, he had many passions. His first love was playing the bass guitar. He played in a handful of well-known local bands starting with The Caravans, Black Water Falls, Grand Junction and Nuttin Fancy. A great memory and moment of achievement for Bob was when The Caravans opened for the Beach Boys in 1965. He met various well-known musicians like Elvis, Johnny Cougar (pre-Mellencamp days), and James Taylor, to name a few legends. Bob also enjoyed playing golf and did so at every chance he could. Bob loved art; he was very talented in several mediums working on various paintings, murals, drawings and portraits.
Bob met and married Venora Mauk in October 2002 in Batesville and she survives him. Their blended family consisted of R. Michael Walterman III (Angela), Mandi Logsdon (Brian), Kyle Walterman (Kacee), Samantha Young (Ron Roth), Sarah Jones (Britt). Together they have several grandchildren: RaShana Young, Justice Jackson, Bryce and Tyler Logsdon, Ryder Walterman, Caleb, Haley and Evan Roth, Isaiah and Cheyenne Jones; and great-grandchildren Alianna, Emmie and Tate Young.
Bob retired from Sintering Technologies, Inc., now known as Showa Denko Materials Powdered Metals in Greensburg in 2010 as the Shipping Lead. Previous to STI, and how many friends will know and remember him, Bob worked as the Superintendent for North Branch Golf Course in Greensburg. Bob also worked many years for Bob’s Home Repair, alongside his Father, Bob Sr. Construction is in this family’s blood!
Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, several aunts, uncles and cousins and his fur baby Buddy. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister Marilee Gutzwiller and her family; as well as several cousins that were raised as siblings and his fur baby Sissy.
