Ernest Eugene “Gene” Richards, 70, of Aurora, IN, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023.
Gene was born on Tuesday, July 15, 1952, in Aurora, IN; son of the late Ernest H. Richards and Mary Thelma Castletine Richards.
Gene worked and retired as a Diesel Mechanic for Truck Way Leasing. In his free time, he enjoyed rebuilding automobiles and giving them a new life. He also liked to cook, most especially his mother’s amazing meatloaf recipe. Gene had a sense of humor that would keep you laughing and keep you on your toes! In his free time, he also enjoyed being outside, tinkering in the garage, camping and spending time with his four-legged best friend, Spot.
Gene will be deeply missed by his daughter, Kim (Randy) Baiza of Kerrville, TX; daughter, Tracey (Tony) Brinkman of Harrison, OH; son, Jason Richards of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Harley “Doc” Richards of Lawrenceburg, IN; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; significant other, Peggy sizemore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary T. Richards; sons, Ernest William Collins and Thomas Richards; sister, Mabel Romans; brothers, Kenny Richards, Louis “Buschel” Richards and George Richards; nephews, Robert “Bobby” Richards and Harold Richards.
The family will be holding a private grave side memorial with interment to follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Moores Hill, Indiana.
