VERSAILLES, IN — The Ripley County Emergency Management Agency is reminding residents about the CodeRED high-speed mass notification service.
The service is used to alert county residents about emergencies such as severe weather, hazmat, missing persons, and shelter-in-place situations.
During Wednesday’s meeting of the Local Emergency Planning Committee, Director Randy Miller said EMA is trying to increase the number of Ripley County residents who are signed up for the service.
He is also reminding county residents that CodeRED is not the same as Nixle.
“They say that they’re signed up for CodeRED but they’re actually signed up for Nixle,” said Miller. “EMA no longer uses Nixle. I know some other departments do but we’re pushing CodeRED because we pay for the service and it’s just a good thing to have.”
