
UPDATE: Denver Jones, the pedestrian who was struck by a semi at State Road 3 and Freeland Road in Greensburg Thursday afternoon, was pronounced dead at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.
Toxicology reports are pending.
The investigation is still ongoing.
(Greensburg, IN) – A St. Paul man was critically injured after he was hit by a semi while walking at the intersection of State Road 3 and Freeland Road in Greensburg Thursday afternoon.
Greensburg police officers arrived on the scene around 4 p.m. and found 69-year-old Denver Jones suffering from serious injuries.
Greensburg firefighters and Decatur Co EMS rendered aid to Jones, who was transported to Decatur County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
He was later airlifted to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition.
The semi driver, 53-year-old Rex Hewitt of Arlington, was not injured and remained on the scene and fully cooperated with investigators.
Authorities say additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The Greensburg Police Department is thanking Decatur County Communications, the Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office; Decatur County EMS, Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction team and Commercial Motor Vehicle Division, and Indiana Department of Transportation for their assistance at the scene.
