Reds strike out 18 times in shutout loss to Milwaukee

The Cincinnati Reds fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 in their final regular season matchup on Wednesday.

Milwaukee’s starting pitcher Freddie Peralta didn’t earn the win but was dominant in his 6 innings on the mound, striking out 13 while allowing 4 hits. Reds hitters were struck out 18 times in the loss.

The game was scoreless for 6.5 innings before Tyrone Taylor 2-run home run off of Ben Lively gave Milwaukee a 2-0 lead. The lead would grow to 3 in the 8th inning on an Andruw Monasterio RBI double.

The Reds went down in order in the top of the 9th, giving the Brewers the 3-0 series finale win.

Cincinnati starting pitcher Ben Lively pitched 6 and 2/3 innings, striking out 3 while allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. With Wednesday’s loss, Lively’s record drops to 4-6 on the season.

TJ Friedl went 2-4 with a double.

The Reds’ record drops to 56-48 on the season. They currently trail the Brewers by 1.5 games for the NL Central lead.
