Pirates Have Success At Decatur County Track Meet

The Greensburg Boys Track and Field team travelled to North Decatur for the annual County Meet. The Pirates finished second behind South Decatur. The only winners for the squad were Freshman Joey Woods in the 100m dash (11.6) and the 4x800m relay team of Michael Back (PR Split of 2:06), Reid McClintic, Kevin Johnson and Jared Hasselbring in a season best time of 8:46.

The Lady Pirates were crowned the 2016 Decatur County Track & Field Champions Tuesday night at North Decatur. The Greensburg Girls won the County meet with 89 points to North Decatur’s 43.5 and South Decatur’s 23.5. Of the 15 contested events the Lady Pirate won 10 individual events and all three relays.

Shelby Pake, Cami Jones, Ashlynn Meyer, and Taylor McIntosh all won 2 individual events while Erin Browning & Lily Grimes dominated the throwing events. The Lady Pirates also broke 3 meet records throughout the evening. Shelby Pake set new meet records in both the 1600 & 3200 individually. Pake also led the 4 x 800 team of Morgan Winkler, Cathy Newhart, and Cami Jones in a record-breaking relay time as well.
