Phone scam targeting Switzerland County businesses

SWITZERLAND COUNTY, IN — The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office has put out a warning to area businesses about a phone scam.

Sheriff Brian Morton says a business owner told his office they were contacted by someone wanting to place an order.

The caller reportedly wanted iTunes cards and a number of other items and asked the business owner to send pictures of the cards.

Morton says anytime someone requests iTunes cards, it’s a red flag that they’re scammers.

He adds local business owners or residents who believe they are being scammed should call his office at (812) 427-3636 or other law enforcement agencies.
