STATEHOUSE — For the first time in two years, the State of Indiana is no longer living under a COVID-19 public health emergency order.

Governor Eric Holcomb on Thursday lifted the order that has been in place since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

Lawmakers this week approved House Enrolled Act 1001, which allows the state to continue to collect extra benefits from the federal government.

The emergency order stopped requiring masks and physical distancing some time ago, but the Governor left it in place in order to collect the extra benefits.

Holcomb extended the declaration 23 times by Executive Order.
