Patricia “Patsy” Louise Laiveling Gober, 84 years of West Harrison, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024. Patsy grew up in the West end of Cincinnati and was lucky enough to find her soul mate, Al, when she was just 14 years old. Al, who was 15, had spotted Patsy on previous occasions, but it wasn’t until her friend approached him at a park that he realized she had noticed him too. Al remembers that day like it was yesterday, the “girl with the black shorts”. And so their story began. They were married on June 3, 1961. At the time Al was in the police service and while he pleaded to get his wedding day off, he couldn’t get time off for the honeymoon. However, 34 years later, after retiring from the police service, he finally got to take his bride on motorcycle trip to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon. Patsy & Al loved to ride and enjoyed many motorcycle adventures to places like Michigan, the Mackinaw Bridge, Florida, and the Smoky Mountains. As a family they enjoyed family vacations in the Smoky Mountains, Mackinaw and in chalets in Gatlinburg.
While Patsy stayed home during the day to raise her children, she worked in the evenings hosting interior design parties. Their garage would be full of pictures, sconces, furniture, vases, and the like that had to be delivered to her customers. Patsy thoroughly enjoyed her job as she attended parties with other women and socialized. Everyone loved Patsy and her easy-going personality. She was always kidding around and her smile was contagious. A typical happy go lucky Irish girl at heart. Loving to stay busy, Patsy also cleaned houses and continued to do this well into her 70’s for a few older people that she adored.
Patsy will be deeply missed by Al Gober Sr., her husband of 63 years; children Al (Kathleen) Gober Jr., Jeff Gober, Danny (Linda) Gober, Tim (Bonnie) Gober, Todd (Kelly) Gober, Sharon (Michael) Hamon; grandchildren Mollie, Emily, Abigail, Matthew, Joshua, Rebecca, Jacob, Zachary, Tim Jr. (Erin), Samantha (Jake), Britainy (Josh), Todd Jr., Madalyn, and Michael .; great grandchildren Bella, Jagger, Rhett, Rory, Cora Sue, Winnie, Hayden Rayne, River, and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Patsy is preceded in death by parents Frank and Marie Laiveling and siblings Frances “Boostie” Nagy and Harry Laiveling.
