The OA Twisters comeback atempt fell short as North Decatur took home a 6-4 win on Wednesday in the first round of sectionals at Jac-Cen-Del.
In the first inning, North Decatur got their offense going when Xander Jones hit a sacrifice fly to score Brayden Hancock. The Chargers then scored on a fielder’s choice by Kamdenn McKinney and a double by Hancock in the second inning.
Hancock took the win for North Decatur. The lefty allowed four hits and four runs over six innings, striking out six. Litmer threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Jacob Stenger took the loss for the Twisters. The right-hander surrendered six runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out six.
“This type of game is always tough. It’s win or go home, and for our 5 seniors, this was the last time they will put on an OA uniform. I’m very proud of all of our guys – we never stopped battling until the final out. North Decatur did a good job of capitalizing on their opportunities. Coach McKinney has a good squad, and I wish them nothing but luck going forward. I would like to thank my 5 seniors – Jacob Hoff, Cy Muckerheide, Sam Hollis, Eli Bruce, and Alex Sizemore. All 5 are extraordinarily great young men, and I’m proud that I got to coach them.” Kooks said after the game.
In Kolks’ first year, the Twisters end their season at 8-12. The Chargers will play Jac-Cen-Del in a Sectional Semi-Final on Monday at 10am.
