North Decatur varsity baseball struggles in 12-2 loss to Union County

North Decatur Chargers varsity baseball watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 5-inning 12- 2 loss to Union County on Tuesday night.

The North Decatur Chargers Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Union County, giving up 12 runs, 4 of which came in the first inning. The rest of the Patriots put the game away, scoring five runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth that ultimately led to the 12-2 final in 5-innings.

Stewart led Union County to victory on the pitcher’s mound. Stewart went four innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out five. Mathew Wooley threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Ty Litmer started the game for North Decatur Chargers Varsity. The righty allowed eight hits and eight runs over three innings, striking out two. Kamdenn McKinney threw two innings out of the bullpen.

North Decatur collected seven hits. Brayden Hancock and Nolan Burkhart each had multiple hits for the Chargers. Hancock led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Union County saw the ball well today, racking up 13 hits in the game.
