(East Enterprise, IN) – Classes were cancelled at Switzerland County Elementary School in East Enterprise on Thursday following a bus fire near the building.
All of the students on board and the bus driver were able to safely evacuate.
There were no injuries reported.
Investigators say it was shortly after 7 a.m. when the driver had just parked the bus and tried to engage the air brakes. He then heard a loud bang and noticed flames.
The fire happened about 50 feet from the school building, which was closed on Thursday to allow for cleanup and inspections.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Switzerland County Elementary School reopened Friday morning.
