Mr. Scott Allen Von Bargen

Mr. Scott Allen Von Bargen, age 60, of Reading, Ohio, and Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on November 27, 1962 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the loving son of, Russell Edward “Bud” Von Bargen and Roberta Mary “Bobbie” (Rieger) Von Bargen. He was raised in Reading, Ohio, and enjoyed playing baseball in his early years of life and was a cub scout. Scott was a 1981 graduate of Reading High School, where he played football and was on the wrestling team. During his high school years, Scott pumped gas at a gas station in Reading, Ohio. Every Sunday morning, Scott’s paternal grandparents would pick him and his brothers and sister up from the house and attend Evendale Community Church in Evendale, Ohio. After high school, Scott helped farmers in Switzerland County, Indiana for a few years. Scott was later employed by Spear Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1984-1986. In 1986, Scott’s parents purchased a Cincinnati Enquirer route where he helped deliver the daily newspapers until 1994. Scott was also a plumber for a few years in Blue Ash, Ohio. In 1987, Scott was employed as a treater operator for Formica in Evendale, Ohio, until he became disabled in 2021, after 34 years of service. Scott’s mom and dad purchased land in the 70s in Switzerland County and built their forever log cabin home in 1996. After the passing of his father on December 29, 2015, Scott would make several trips to visit with his mother and tend to her every need. Scott lived for helping others in any way that he could whether that was mowing their grass or simply making someone smile. He was a jokester at heart and loved to make others laugh. Scott loved the simple ways of life and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and spending time with his family and friends. Scott unexpectedly passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at his mother’s residence in Switzerland County, Indiana.

Scott will be missed by his heartbroken mother, Roberta Mary “Bobbie” (Rieger) Von Bargen of Switzerland County, IN; his brothers, Edward Joseph Von Bargen and his wife, Pamela of Port St. Lucie, FL, Barry Louis Von Bargen and his wife, Sharon of West Chester, OH, and Robert Michael Von Bargen and his wife, Gina of Middletown, OH; his sister, Cynthia Marie (Von Bargen) French and her husband, Larry of Reading, OH; his 8-nieces and 7-nephews; his numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; his great-great-nephew; his aunts and uncles, Elizabeth Thompson of Crossville, TN and Wayne and Lois Rieger of Pleasant Plain, OH and his several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Edward “Bud” Von Bargen, and his brother, John Russell Von Bargen.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

The Celebration of Scott’s Life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
