BATESVILLE, IN — 2022 Batesville High School graduate Benjamin Moster has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship to the Marian University E. S. Witchger School of Engineering in Indianapolis.

Moster will be part of the inaugural class of the university’s new engineering school and is one of only four students to receive a $10,000 scholarship.

He plans to study civil engineering.

Marian University has awarded a total of seven engineering scholarships – a total of $600,000 over four years – to students in the inaugural class of the university’s new E. S. Witchger School of Engineering.

The scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, leadership, and service to the community.

“We are pleased to recognize Benjamin as one of the student pioneers who will build the culture and legacy of the E. S. Witchger School of Engineering,” said Daniel J. Elsener, president of Marian University. “It is Marian’s mission to ensure we provide access to students who have the drive and academic curiosity to become ethically grounded engineers who positively influence their industries and communities.”

Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and opening fall of 2022, the E. S. Witchger School of Engineering will expand Marian University’s vision as a Catholic university to offer Bachelor of Engineering degrees rooted in the liberal arts tradition with the goal of graduating a diverse pipeline of talented leaders.

The school will offer degrees in biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, and mechanical engineering, as well as engineering physics.

The new, state-of-the-art building that will house the new school will open in the fall of 2023.

“We are committed to providing competitive financial assistance to our engineering students, in alignment with Marian University’s vision to develop transformational and diverse leaders for
service to the world,” said Binh Tran, Ph.D., founding Dean of the E. S. Witchger School of Engineering at Marian University.
