Missing Child Found Safe After Massive Search

(Decatur County, IN) – There was a happy ending to a missing child case.

A massive search on the ground, in the air and underwater took place in southern Decatur County yesterday afternoon, after a two-year-old boy was reported missing shortly after 1 p.m. from a home on the 2000 block of West County Road 600 South.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says the child was last seen wearing only a diaper and had been missing for about an hour before the report was made.

First responders immediately arrived in the area and initiated a search involving a long list of agencies.

The boy was found around 2:15 p.m. – asleep and unharmed – at a neighbor’s house.

Investigators say it appeared he got in through a dog door.

“This search was truly a team effort among all agencies involved,” Sheriff Bill Meyerrose said.
