Robert Baylor, the president of Baylor Trucking in Milan is a recent recipient of a prestigious industry award.
He received the Indiana Motor Truck Associations 2013 Founders Award. The award recognizes those that distinguish themselves in the industry by their actions.
“What means so much, it isn’t an annual award. It is just given on occasions when people recognize your accomplishments,” indicated the Baylor Trucking president.
The award was presented by Phil Byrd, the chairman of the American Trucking Association.
“It was very special to have [him] come to our convention and present the award to us,” said Robert Baylor.
Four generations of the Baylor family have been active in the business. It started with Roberts father, Chester Baylor, in 1946 with just one truck. Robert began in 1974 and has witnessed the company grow to its present day fleet of approximately 300 trucks. Headquartered in Milan, the trucking company also has a terminal location in Tennessee.
The industry continues to evolve through technology and a drastic change in the workforce, according to the president of Baylor.
