The 11th ranked Oldenburg Academy Lady Twisters played on the pitch they will see again in a couple of weeks during sectionals. On Tuesday, OA won at Rising Sun 7-0.
Oldenburg was held to just two goals in the first half despite a 28-2 shot advantage (17-1 on goal). Ella Lamping struck first at 28:35 on an assist by Haleigh Reed. Sarah Wilder then followed up with a breakaway goal at 23:40.
Second half shooting was also heavily in favor of the Lady Twisters with OA claiming a 25-1 advantage in total shots and 12-0 on goal. During this 40 minute stretch though, Oldenburg scored five times. Kirsten Ricke followed her own miss and put back the rebound for a goal at 24:47. Reed scored 58 seconds later with an unassisted short crossing shot to make it 4-0. The quick scoring continued. At 21:14, Ava Geers netted the corner kick from Elizabeth Schulte.
Ricke returned with 17:58 to play for her second goal of the night to make it 6-0. The seventh and final goal occurred with only 1:15 remaining. Angela Wanstrath split the posts after playing a ball from Catherine Cigolotti. Regan Weberding had one goalie save in the shutout for OA. Teammate Lizzie Kelnhofer played some late minutes in net but had no save opportunities. Haleigh improves to 11 goals on the year. Rising Sun keeper Erin Webb recorded 22 stops.
OA improves to 10-3 on the year and they will take on Union County High School Thursday at The Graveyard.
