The Greensburg Lady Pirates soccer team hosted the Franklin County Lady Wildcats and came away with a 1-0 EIAC win.
The victory pushes the team record to 7-5-1 on the season and 2-3 in EIAC play. The win is also the third in a row and second straight conference shut out.
The Lady Pirates dominated possession for the entire game but only connected for one goal when a hand ball was called inside the box on the visitors. Abby Bailey connected on the PK (penalty kick) with 15 minutes left in the first half. Both squads played hard, intense soccer and created a great atmosphere on the pitch for the fans.
McKella Lynette recorded her fourth shut-out victory between the pipes making 9 saves on the evening. The Lady Pirates tallied 24 shots for the
game. Taking shots were: Bailey, Stephanie Bruns, Sierra Aylsworth, Molly Redmon, Cara Zeigler, Sarah Martin, Maddi Hellmich, Kasey Moeller
and Michaela Myers.
The Lady Pirates will host EIAC opponent and Class 1A #1 ranked Lawrenceburg Saturday morning at 10AM. Between games the seniors from
both the girls and boys squads will be honored with Senor Day. On Monday, the JV Lady Pirates will host Milan at 5PM before the boys contest.
