The following are recaps of junior high boys basketball games for the week of November 22.
Jac-Cen-Del’s seventh grade was a 57-35 winner over Batesville. Three, count ‘em, three different Eagle players posted double doubles: Darian Greishop 20 points and 20 steals, Blake Wagner 17 points and 17 rebounds and Neil Sullivan 12 points and 11 boards.
For the Bulldogs, Carson Hartley was the top scorer with 11 points. Caleb Laker followed with seven.
The BMS eighth prevailed 47-15. The Dogs Cayden Drake buried five triples on his way to 17 points. Brayden Maple scored eight. For JCD, Lane Carroll carded 11 points, six rebounds and two steals.
The St. Louis seventh grade beat Milan 41-24.
The Indians eighth grade defeated the Cardinals 50-30. Micha Norman led Milan with 26 points.
The St. Lou fifth grade fell 27-22 to St. Michael’s. Cam Anderson netted 14 points in the loss for the Cardinals. Teammates Ryan McGuire and Luke Richardson battled for boards underneath.
The St. Louis fifth grade did rebound and improved to 2-2 with a 20-15 victory over Greendale. Grant Streator hit the go ahead basket for the Cardinals. Teammate Cam Anderson led the Redbirds in scoring with 12 points.
The sixth grade game was also close as St. Louis beat the Bengals 19-15. A late basket by Calvin Padgett and two free throws by Andrew King helped secure the W.
Ray Walke led St. Lou with eight points. Padgett had six. Both players had six rebounds. Caleb Harmeyer pulled down seven boards. The St. Louis sixth grade is now 5-0.
Milan’s eighth grade held off St. Nicholas 40-37 to pick up it fifth win of the season. There was no seventh grade game.
Batesville’s seventh graders downed South Decatur 56-21. The Bulldogs took command early leading 21-4 after the first quarter. Carson Hartley, Preston Blessing and Isaac Weber were the team’s top three scorers with 10, nine and eight points respectively.
Batesville’s eighth grade was a 56-43 winner over the Cougars. Cayden Drake and Trenten Luers led the home Dogs with 15 points each. Braydon Maple scored 10. The BMS boys are now 6-0.
Jac-Cen-Del’s seventh grade lost to Sunman Dearborn 48-25. Darian Grieshop had 11 points in the loss for JCD. Teammate Blake Wagner logged seven points and five rebounds.
Sunman-Dearborn also beat the Eagles in the eighth grade game 38-22. Three birds scored five points in the loss: Kellar Vatchet, Carson Comer and Lane Simon.
The St. Louis eighth grade took on Sunman-Dearborn’s B Team and prevailed 51-19. Jaiden Kuria tallied 18 points for the Cardinals and Caleb Mohr added 12.
