Judith Ann Hazelwood, 77, Brookville

Judith (Judy) Ann Hazelwood, age 77, of Brookville, Indiana and formerly of Cooleemee, North Carolina died Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville, Indiana.

Born October 21, 1940 in Mocksville, North Carolina, Judy was one of three children (Clyde Jr., Judy, Jetty) born to the late Clyde & Mabel Shaw. She was a graduate of Davie High School in Mocksville, NC with the class of 1958.

On October 18, 1963 in Laurinburg, North Carolina she was united in marriage to David Henry Hazelwood. In 1964, the couple relocated to Brookville, Indiana Dave’s hometown.

Judy was a homemaker until her children were of school age, and then she worked for Sears for many years, as well as working part time for Mr. Fudge Confectionary in Metamora, Indiana. Judy had attended Smyrna Baptist Church in New Trenton, Indiana. In her leisure time she enjoyed drawing, painting, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a very happy go lucky in life and was generally happy and smiling. Her favorite quote was, “Smile and the World Smiles with You.”

Besides David, her husband of 55 years, survivors include two sons, Keith (Lori) Hazelwood of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky and Brian Hazelwood of Mason, Ohio; five grandchildren, Truman Hazelwood, Macey Giberson, Deacon Hazelwood, Brady Giberson and Savannah Hazelwood; one sister, Jetty Mauldin of Quarry, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Shaw Jr..
