John Allen Ruble, 72, of Greensburg passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019. He was born on April 1, 1947, in Rush County, the son of William and Clara Mae (Hankins) Ruble. John was a 1965 graduate of Greensburg High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. On December 2, 1983 he married Teresa Buell Scheibler. John was very talented athletically and had a scholarship and drafting opportunity right out of High School. He was well known in the community for playing on the American Legion Baseball team and later loved playing on the Pizza King Softball Team. Sports played a big part in John’s life whether it was participating or observing; throwing a triple play or watching his grandchildren develop their skills. He loved spending time with his family at the dirt track races, camping, LifeLine Wesleyan Church, hanging with his friends, and his dog Max.
Survivors include: Wife- Teresa Ruble; Sons- Todd (Brandi) Ruble and Jeremy (Lauren) Ruble; Daughters- Dana (Greg) Phillips, Kristi (Trent) Swartzentruber, and Sheri (Dan) Slaven; First Wife- Sue Kitchin Grandchildren- Kalen Grubb, Alex, and Brady Ruble, Logan and Parker Phillips, Mason, Sydney, Landon, Luke, and Leah Swartzentruber, Averi Helms, George and Charlie Slaven; Sisters- Cathy (Steve) Konzelman and Joyce Bray; Brother- Brian Ruble; Mother in law- Virgie Buell. He was preceded in death by his Parents William and Clara Ruble; Brother- Mike Ruble; Father in law- Charles Buell; Brother in laws- Timothy Buell and Thomas Buell.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 10:00 am at the LifeLine Wesleyan Church, 2002 Moscow Road, Greensburg, with Pastor Doug Preston officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Speranza House or can be made to the family for them to honor John’s private CNA with a special gift for all of his time and compassion he showed them through John’s last days.
