Karen Ruth (Barnett) McCord, 75, of Aurora, Indiana, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Tuesday July 23, 2019 in Aurora, Indiana.
She was born July 21, 1944 in Cincinnati, OH, daughter of the late George Barnett and Ruth (Bradburn) Barnett
She worked as an RN for St. Luke West and also for the Community Mental Health Center.
Karen was a 1962 graduate of Norwood High School and received her nursing diploma from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. In her younger years she enjoyed horseback riding. Karen used to breed and show miniature Schnauzers, and received many awards and trophies back in the 1980’s. Karen was a huge Neil Diamond Fan.
Karen is survived by her daughters, Erin Shepherd of Lawrenceburg, IN, Michele Stapleton of Greensburg, IN; brother, Robert (Doris “Fay”) Barnett of Braydenton, FL; grandchildren, Nathan Stapleton, Ryleigh Shepherd; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Barnett, brother, George Barnett.
Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, at 12:00 pm at the Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana, with Pastor Tommy Beatley, officiating.
