Joel Patrick Pflum, age 32, of Georgetown, Kentucky died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Born February 19, 1986 in Oxford, Ohio he was the son of Kathy (Calihan) Cone & Darrell Pflum. He was a graduate of South Ripley High School where he was a star athlete and held the school record for 3RD highest scoring in basketball. He then went on to attend Hanover College where he played Basketball for one year.
He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served three tours on active duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom, as a 2ND Class Petty Officer; until his Honorable Discharge on June 2, 2013.
Joel was employed at Clean Harbors where he was a Supervisor. In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with his son, and coaching his son’s basketball & baseball teams.
Survivors include his son, Channing Pflum of Georgetown, Kentucky; his mother, Kathy Cone of Shelbyville, Kentucky; his father, Darrell Pflum of Brookville, Indiana; two brothers Casey Pflum of Sunman, Indiana and Kelly Pflum of Fishers, Indiana; as well as several aunts & uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Coolie & Pat Calihan; his paternal grandparents, Edwin & Betty Pflum; as well as two uncles, Jeff Pflum and Kenny Hildebrand.
Family & friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Rev. Rob Edwards will officiate the Funeral Services at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial with full military graveside honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
