IU, OSU and ND women join Lousiville in Sweet 16

All three regional women’s NCAA college basketball teams in tournament action Monday came up a winner.  Joining Louisville in the Sweet 16 are Indiana, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

The fifth seeded Irish absolutely demolished fourth seeded Oklahoma 108-64.  It was 60-25 at halftime.

ND took 76 shots and hit 41 for 54 percent.  The Irish made good on 10 triples and forced the Sooners into 28 turnovers.

The sixth seeded Buckeyes knocked out third seeded LSU 79-64.  OSU outscored the Tigers 30-6 from the arc.

And the third seeded Hoosiers hung on to beat 11th seeded Princeton 56-55.  IU fell behind after leading by 14 midway through the third quarter.

Grace Berger brought the host Hoosiers back to even on a free throw with just under a minute to go.  Then she hit the go-ahead basket with 30 seconds left on a drive to the bucket.

Indiana outshot Princeton 51 to 34 percent but the Hoosiers coughed up the rock 17 times.  The Tigers had only eight miscues.

Here are the Sweet 16 matchups on Saturday for the ladies.  Top seeded Louisville plays fourth seeded Tennessee.  Fifth seeded Notre Dame takes on number one seed NC State.  Indiana and Ohio State both play a two seed.  The Hoosiers meet Connecticut while the Buckeyes face Texas.
