BATESVILLE, IN — Schmidt Bakery’s world-renowned Cherry Thing-A-Lings went on sale to the general public Thursday morning at 4:00.
The treats are only available this time of year during Presidents Day weekend through Monday.
This is the only weekend during the year in which the downtown Batesville bakery is open on Sunday.
The fritter-type donut with cherries inside, topped with a cherry glaze can be purchased from 4 am until 6 pm each day through Monday, but pack your patience – long lines of people waiting to get in to buy the sweet treats are also part of the tradition.
Last year, Schmidt Bakery set a new record when it sold 164,160 Cherry Thing-A-Lings, which comes out to 13,680 dozen.
Cherry Thing-A-Lings can also be shipped to loved ones and friends.
