Batesville, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Transportation has closed State Road 46 West of Batesville. Crews have begun to make structural repairs to the bridge over Little Laughery Creek and will finish later this summer. During the closure heavy traffic will be required to use State Road 229, I-74 and Decatur County Road 850 East.
Inspectors recently determined an additional support was needed in the center span in order for the bridge to remain safe.
INDOT engineers are currently developing a project that would rehabilitate or bypass the historic bridge as part of the transportation improvement plan.
