The following are high school softball recaps from Monday, May 16. All games are varsity unless noted otherwise. There may be updates, so please check back.
Franklin County took both games of a double header with Batesville. It was a record-breaking night for two Lady Wildcats. Kensee Ferman now holds the program record for most RBI in a single season, currently at 41. And Brooke Stang boasts the single season runs record, currently at 39.
The game one final was 12-0.
Stang had three hits and three RBI for Franklin County. Josie Rolfes notched a pair of hits and runs batted in to match. Both players homered. Kiersten Schell and Maci Lake each picked up two hits an one RBI. Schell had a triple. Bailey Kaiser collected two hits while Kensee Ferman, KK Ferman and Bree Bischoff all batted in a run.
KK Ferman pitched a one hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks. The only hit allowed was a double by Emma Belter of the Bulldogs.
FC took the second game 17-1.
Kensee Ferman delivered three RBI on two hits. Tiffany Billman, Rolfes and Stang all booked two hits and two RBI. Annie Hoff had a couple of ribbies while Kassidy Schell, Kiersten Schell, KK Ferman and Anne Becker batted in a run each.
Bishoff was the winning pitcher with four Ks. She scattered six hits.
Renee Lecher drove in Georgia Mertz for Batesville’s only run.

Rising Sun clinched a tie for the ORVC title by beating South Ripley 1-0 in Versailles.
The game’s only run crossed the plate in the visitor’s seventh. The Shiners Hannah Kremer singled home Tamryn Miller who walked and advanced earlier in the inning on an infield error.
Kremer along with the Raiders Mady Tompkins and Ellie Waldron all had two hits in the game.
Ripley’s best chance to score came in the sixth when both Tompkins and Waldron led off the frame with back-to-back singles. However, Rising Sun pitcher Cora Poling induced two groundouts and an infield flyout to end the threat. Poling struck out six and walked none in the win. Tompkins fanned 10 and walked two in the loss.
The Sun, which is now 8-1 in the ORVC, can win the conference outright if the Shiners beat Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday. The Raiders, who are in the barn at 8-2, can tie RS if the Eagles pull off the upset.

Connersville won the EIAC outright with a 13-1 rout of Lawrenceburg. The Spartans pulled away with seven runs in the seventh inning.
Shelby Wolski of CHS went the distance allowing just two hits a walk while posting eight Ks. Teammate Sara Ruble had a three hit game. Sydney Dungan, Rayleigh Bresher and Baylie Spurlock each had two.
The ladies from Fayette County are 13-0 in conference play. CHS and will try to bring the EIAC brooms out on Wednesday for their final league game against Rushville.

East Central got a 6-0 victory at Greensburg.
The Trojans Karlie Davis had three singles and two RBI. Teammate Emily Klem and Brynn Wilhelm both had two hits and a ribbie. Jordyn Maurer had a single and double. Lexi Hatmaker picked up an RBI at the plate and threw a four-hit shutout in the circle with five strikeouts.

North Decatur downed South Decatur 15-0.
The Chargers Kayln Muckerhide tripled and homered with three RBI. Sara Swain tripled and singled twice with two Ribbies. Keesha Crosland collected a pair of singles and RBI to match. Kacie Ogden drove in two runs while Raegan Nobbe batted in one.
Crossland and Swain combined on a two-hitter with seven strikeouts. Cougar hits were a triple by Loryn Pate and a single via Kyra Fields.

Switzerland County shut out Jac-Cen-Del 17-0.
Olivia Strunk had two of the Eagles four hits.
Pacer pitcher Lily Sparks struck out seven. Sarah Koons led the Switz offense with two doubles, a single and six runs batted in.

Milan lost 17-4 to Trinity Lutheran.
Eleanor Honnert drove in two runs for the Indians while Audrey Schmidt batted in one.
