H.S. baseball recaps from Monday, May 16; Bulldogs, Rebels clinch titles

The following are high school baseball recaps from Monday, May 16.  All events are varsity unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

Batesville won the EIAC outright by besting South Dearborn 3-2.  The Bulldogs Travis Lecher broke a 2-2 tie on a base hit in the home sixth.

BHS teammate Zach Wade drove in the other two runs on a solo dinger and an RBI base hit.

Batesville’s Dime Adams pitched the final two innings in scoreless, hitless fashion to get the win.  He struck out three and walked none.

Both SD runs were plated by a pair of singles from Clay Gentry. Ryan Willoughby also had two hits.

BHS is 13-0 in the EIAC and will go for a full conference sweep against the Knights on Thursday.

Southwestern Hanover won the ORVC baseball title outright with a 12-8 victory over Milan.  The Rebels scored 11 runs over the fifth and sixth innings.

For the Hanover boys, it was Mason Lichlyter with two hits and four RBI.  Keegan Gross batted in three. Jordan DeAtley singled, doubled and plated two runs.  Jamison Lewis had two RBI and Zach Cole hit a solo home run.

The Rebels are 10-1 in the conference with one game to play.

Jac-Cen-Del fell 10-3 to Switzerland County.

Bryce Turner, Roman Hite and Kaleb Koons all recorded two RBI for the Pacers.  Hite singled and doubled.

Brady Borgman had a four-hit game for the Eagles which included a double and one RBI.  Devin Grieshop also batted in a JCD run on a triple.

Greensburg beat Connersville 5-3.

The Pirates had 10 hits in the victory.

The Spartans Gavin Lynch logged a base hit with two ribbies and Chance Bentley recorded two singles.

North Decatur was a 9-3 winner over South Decatur.

The Chargers Nate O’Dell delivered three hits.  Nolan Burkhart, Reid Messer, Jake Mirick and James Evans all had two.  Messer doubled and drove in three runs.  Burkhart and Mirick each knocked in two.  Mirick pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts against no walks.

Devin Pate had two hits for the Cougars.

In a JV game, Batesville bested South Dearborn 10-1.

The Bulldogs Eli Loichinger struck out 10 from the bump.  Teammate Carter Bohman had three hits and two RBI while Conner Drake turned in two hits and three RBI.

East Central routed Lawrenceburg 13-1.

Eli Aston, Josh Ringer and Luke Vogelgesang all homered and had three RBI each for the Trojans.  Braydon Rouse singled three times.  Luke Moorman and Carson Koelling collected two hits and a ribbie apiece while Ryan Bovard brought home two runs on a pair of sac flies.  Sam Huston struck out 12 and walked three in the win.
