GPD Officer Receives Life Saver Award; Reserve Officer Sworn In

(Greensburg, IN) – Officer Keaton Atchley was presented the Greensburg Police Department’s Life Saver Award at this week’s Board of Works meeting.

Atchley was honored for saving the life of a two-month-old who was choking back in August.

He delivered back blows that cleared the baby’s airway.

The infant’s breathing and skin color returned to normal, and Officer Atchley continued monitoring the baby until EMS arrived.

Atchley had been on force for one year and 15 days when the incident occurred.

Also taking place at the Greensburg Board of Works meeting was the swearing-in of Robert Ruston as a Greensburg Police Department reserve officer.

Mayor Joshua Marsh administered the oath to Ruston (pictured), who also serves as a Corporal at the Decatur County Detention Center.

He has worked at the county jail for three years.
