Girls Soccer Sectional Semifinal Recaps

Switzerland County 2, Oldenburg 1 (heard on WRBI)

In a Class 1A-45 semifinal at Rising Sun, Oldenburg’s run of four straight sectional championships came to an end at the hands of Switzerland County.  The 14th ranked Pacers beat the 13th ranked Twisters 2-1.

MacKenzie Taylor and Avy Burkholder staked the Pacers to a 2-0 lead at halftime. Taylor placed the ball in the upper left 90. Burkholder shot into the left side net off the fingertips of the OA keeper.

The Twisters Emma Weberding got OA on the board with 13 minutes to play.  She one-touched the ball into the net off an assist from Mimi Wilder to make it a 2-1 game, but that was the final goal of the match.

Switz had a 16-13 advantage in total shots including a 9-4 edge on goal.

Batesville 9, Herron 0 (heard on WRBI)

In a Class 2A-27 semifinal match at Beech Grove, Batesville mercy ruled Herron 9-0.  BHS led 4-0 at halftime.  The match was stopped after a second consecutive goal from Elena Kuisel put the Bulldogs up 9-nil with 25 minutes left in the second half.

Sydney Slaven, Olivia Knueven, Billie Puente, Tristan Rowlett, Haley Lipps and Jada Day all got in on the scoring with one goal each.  The Golden Bears gave BHS one own goal.

East Central 9, Shelbyville 0

In a Class 3A-12 semifinal match at Greenfield-Central, East Central mercy ruled Shelbyville 9-0.  The Trojans were up 6-0 at halftime.

Erika Wells logged a hat trick for EC and teammate Kendal Fox scored twice.  Olivia Hopper led the team in assists with two.  Other Trojan single goals were booked by Hopper, Payge Callahan, Ellie Hill and Caitlyn Dick.  Additional assists came from Julia Tiemann, Anna Black, Wells and Dick.

Milan 3, Rising Sun 1

In a Class 1A-45 semifinal at Rising Sun, Milan beat the host Shiners 3-1.  The Indians led 2-1 at the half.

Hillary Lambert scored for the Shiners and was assisted by Hannah Kremer.  Milan scoring was not reported.
