Girls HS basketball recaps from Jaunary 13

In girls high school basketball Thursday, South Ripley was a 40-24 winner at Rising Sun.  The Raiders got 17 points from Emily Flood plus 14 points, six rebounds and five assists from Rachael Meyer.

Oldenburg lost at home to South Dearborn 39-34.  Emily Elliott of the Knights led all scorers with 15.  Teammate Bernadette Wismann added 10.

Milan won 45-39.  The Hilltoppers were led by Allison Knoebel and Ava Turner with 17 and 14 points respectively.

Switzerland County smothered Southwestern Hanover 67-32.  It was 37-15 at halftime.  The Pacer defense held the Rebels to 18 percent shooting while converting 49 percent offensively. For Switz, Maddie Duvall led with 14 points and seven steals.  Mackenzie Taylor tallied 12 points and six rebounds. Jessie Duvall also scored a dozen and grabbed six boards while Courtney Higgins added 11 points.

For the Hanover ladies, Riley Scroggins collected eight points, Emma Long scored seven and Ashley Fulton put in six.  Both Long and Fulton logged eight rebounds.

North Decatur bested Southwestern Shelby 46-40.  The Chargers outscored the Spartans 19-8 in the second period.  ND’s Kelsey Haley hit five triples on her way to 17 points.  Madi Allen scored seven, all coming in the fourth quarter.  Ella Kunz and Kacey Barker both booked six.

And Waldron repeated as Mid-Hoosier Conference champions with a 69-37 victory over South Decatur. Hallie Ross led the Mohawks with 13 points which including a trio of triples. Teammate Megan Bogemann drile four 3-pointers and tallied a dozen points.

For South Decatur, Kiley Best booked nine points and Loryn Pate had eight.
