In a Thursday cross country meet at Lawrenceburg, the Franklin County girls won the Lawrenceburg three-way meet. As neither Lawrenceburg nor South Dearborn had a full team, the Lady Wildcats scored a perfect 15 points. Meanwhile, the Wildcat boys were second, just one point behind Lawrenceburg, 27-28. SD did not have a full team in this race either.
FCHS coach Stacey Nobbe reported the Lady Wildcats Esther George crossed the finish line more than a minute before the second place finisher, Cidney Clyde from Lawrenceburg. Nobbe also noted the next finisher for Franklin County, Katherine Apsley, struggled with the difficult course but still managed to finish in fifth place.
Ben Maze was the FCHS boys top finisher placing second behind Lawrenceburg’s Grant Hensley.
“The whole team put forth a tremendous performance,” said Nobbe. “Adam Grant finished in fourth, Harmon Marshall finished in fifth and Hunter Marshall passed Lawrenceburg’s Tanner Fox in an exciting sprint at the finish to take seventh place. The boys ran a smart race and finished with great results.”
