The Batesville Bulldogs traveled to Connersville on Monday, April 17th and were victorious by a final score of 9-3.
Batesville’s Zach Britton drove in five on three hits to lead the Bulldogs past Connersville. Britton drove in runs on a home run in the first, a home run in the third, and a single in the sixth.
An early lead helped propel the Bulldogs to victory. Batesville took the lead on a home run in the first inning and did not look back.
The Bulldogs scored three more in the third, one more in the fourth, and three runs in the sixth inning. Batesville’s big sixth inning was driven by a single by Trey Heidlage and a single by Britton.
Batesville senior Anthony Butz earned the win for the Bulldogs. He pitched seven innings, giving up three runs, only one of them earned, and eight hits. Dylan Lynn took the loss for Connersville. He threw seven innings, allowing nine runs, nine hits, and striking out three.
The Bulldogs collected nine hits overall. Britton led the team with three hits, while Heidlage collected two hits for Batesville. Quinn Werner, Caleb Raab, Alex McPherson, and Lane Oesterling each added one hit.
The win makes the Bulldogs 7-4 on the year and 3-0 in the EIAC (1st place in the EIAC). Batesville takes on Franklin County on Tuesday, April 18th at Liberty Park.
