JENNINGS COUNTY, IND. – Five people suffered minor injuries in a U.S. 50 crash that police say could lead to traffic charges against at least one driver.
Wednesday around 3:40 p.m., a Kia Spectra driven by John Shipley, 60, was traveling west on U.S. 50 near C.R. 900 W preparing to make a left turn into a driveway.
Shipley was followed by two dump trucks, the first driven by Loney McKain, 46, and the second operated by Steven Baker, 54, both of Jackson County.
Police say Baker was unable to stop the dump truck in time and struck McKain’s rig.
The dump truck was pushed left of center and struck an eastbound Toyota Sienna driven by 23-year-old Christian Stewart.
A following eastbound Chevrolet Impala driven by Breanna Noblitt, 19, of North Vernon, struck the rear end of the Stewart’s car, causing the Toyota to strike the Kia.
All five drivers suffered minor injuries and Shipley, Stewart, and Nobblitt were transported to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour where they were treated and released.
The other two drivers were treated at the scene by Jennings County EMS officials.
The crash remains under investigation and could result in traffic charges being filed to at least one driver, police said.
