Erma M. (Hunger) Jones, 92, of North Vernon passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Morning Breeze Retirement Community and Healthcare Center. Erma was born on Wednesday, May 18, 1932, in Ripley County; daughter of Robert and Mabel (Licking) Hunger. Erma married the love of her life, James Robert Jones Sr. on August 9, 1952, and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2003. Erma was a member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in North Vernon. She enjoyed collecting recipe books, cooking, sewing, working on crafts, and watching sprint car races with her husband.
Erma will be missed by her son James Robert Jones Jr. of North Vernon; daughter Barbara Ann Compton of Greensburg; and sisters Marie Hizer of Lawrenceburg and Iris Nelson of Kentucky.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mabel Hunger; husband James Robert Jones Sr.; brothers Wesley, Norman, and Floyd Hunger; and sister Iola Zeh.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be given in honor of Erma to Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
