Doris Mae Lewis, 75, of Holton passed away at 8:45am, Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born in Cincinnati on July 19, 1946 the daughter of Brent and Lucille Hammon Schlotman. She was married to William Lewis on August 31, 1977 and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2016. Survivors include two sons Greg (Debbie) Schlotman of Fairland and Bryan (Lisa) Schlotman of Holton; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Lewis was a 1964 graduate of Holton High School and a veteran of the Vietnam War. She served as a Staff Sergeant with the US Air Force from June 29, 1964 through June 30, of 1976 and re-enlisted with the US Army serving from July 31, 1977 through December 5, 1988. For service to her country Doris received the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon. Doris was very patriotic and her time in the military was a very big part of her life. Her hobbies included fishing and sewing. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4th at 6pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Randy Thieman officiating. Visitation will begin at 5pm on Tuesday. Doris’ wishes were to be cremated and burial will follow at a later date at the Tanglewood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
