Doris E. Kinnett, 84, of Aurora passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St.Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital. She was born on Sunday, May 10, 1936 in Switzerland County, Indiana to Norman Houze and LaVonia (Canfield) Houze. Doris married Lawrence Kinnett on Sunday, September 5, 1954. She was a member of the Aurora Fire Department #2 auxiliary, spent many years working for Filter Funeral Home, and retired from First National Bank in Aurora after 35 years. In her spare time, Doris enjoyed flowers, reading, camping, and spending time with family.
Doris is survived by her brothers: Gaylord Houze (Carol) of Aurora and Noel Houze of Aurora; sister-in-law Lois Kinnett of Aurora; uncle Glen Canfield (Betty); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her parents, Norman and LaVonia Houze; sister Sharon Dyer; sister-in-law Eileen Houze; and cousin David Canfield.
Family and friends may gather to remember Doris at Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 9 to 11 AM. A service will be held immediately after at 11 AM with Pastor Darwin Pressler officiating. A burial will follow at Mount Sinai Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Doris to Mount Sinai Cemetery, Donor’s choice, Dillsboro Life Squad, or P.A.W.S. of Dearborn County.
