
(Dearborn County, IN) – A Greendale man was arrested on felony theft charges after he allegedly stole thousands of dollars from a local civic organization.
Forty-six-year-old Brett Allen Hamilton has been charged with felony Fraud, Theft Over $50-thousand, Money Laundering, Corrupt Business Influence and Official Misconduct following a three-month Indiana State Police investigation into his time as president of the Dillsboro Civic Club.
ISP says investigators discovered Hamilton allegedly stole thousands of dollars in club funds between 2018 and this year, and used the money for personal gain.
A warrant was issued and Hamilton was arrested without incident in Lawrenceburg on Friday afternoon.
He is being held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center pending a court appearance, which is expected to take place on Tuesday.
Detective Tim Denby with the ISP Special Investigations Section was the lead investigator, and was assisted by other State Police detectives and troopers from the Versailles Post, and the Dearborn County Prosecutor’s Office.
