(Greensburg, IN) – The Decatur County United Fund proudly hosted its annual Day of Caring, bringing together more than 126 volunteers to complete 20 impactful service projects throughout Decatur County.
This community-wide initiative exemplifies the power of collaboration and civic service as individuals from all walks of life came together to lend a helping hand.
The United Fund extends heartfelt thanks to the student volunteers from Greensburg High School JAG program, North Decatur High School, and South Decatur High School. Their energy
and enthusiasm were instrumental in making the day a success.
Organizations that benefited from volunteer efforts include Greensburg Community Bread of Life, Decatur County Family YMCA, Decatur County Parks & Recreation, Decatur County Youth Baseball, Greensburg Adult Center, Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Shelter, Historical Society of Decatur County, Letts Volunteer Fire Department, Westport Fire Department, Westport Kiwanis Club, and Carousel Play and Learn Center.
Each of these nonprofits plays a vital role; their inclusion in this initiative highlights the broad reach and collaborative spirit of the Day of Caring.
Corporate partners also played a vital role in the event’s success. We are deeply grateful to First Financial Bank, Delta Faucet, German American Bank, GECOM Corporation, Messer—Rust—Burkert Advisors—Ameriprise Financial Services, Decatur County Memorial Hospital, RBSK Partners, Decatur County REMC, and Centra Credit Union for encouraging employee participation and supporting local service efforts.
“This day is a testament to what we can accomplish when we come together,” said Joane Cunningham, Executive Director of the Decatur County United Fund, “From landscaping and painting to food prep and cleaning. These helping hands assisted local nonprofits with much needed projects and our volunteers made a lasting difference.”
Due to scheduling conflicts, additional volunteers will be joining later this year to complete even more projects. Those two agencies will be Community Healthcare Clinic and Greensburg Adult
Center. The Decatur County United Fund looks forward to continuing this momentum and expanding the reach of the Day of Caring throughout the community.
