Indianapolis, In. — College Board, a nonprofit organization that connects students to college success, will soon launch College Board Opportunity Scholarships, a national scholarship program that guides students through the college planning process and rewards them for the tasks they complete.
To qualify, students in their junior and senior years of high school take part in six actions that prepare them to apply for college. These include building a college list, practicing for the SAT, improving their SAT score, strengthening their college list, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and applying to colleges.
After completing each step, students are entered into monthly drawings to win scholarships. Those who complete all six steps become eligible to win a $40,000 scholarship.
Through the program, College Board will award $5 million in scholarships each year over the next five years, beginning with the class of 2020. The program is set to launch in December.
