Coats for Kids drive has kicked off

Brookville, IN — United Way of Franklin County (UWFC) is excited to be kicking off the annual Coats for Kids drive. For the last 30 years, this program has helped keep students in the community warm by collecting and distributing new and gently used winter coats.

In order to move forward with Coats for Kids in the midst of a global pandemic, UWFC implemented some changes with both students and community members in mind. Instead of collecting, cleaning, and distributing coats, this year UWFC will be holding a Facebook fundraiser to collect monetary donations. The proceeds of this campaign will help purchase new coats for all students in need.

Not only will this reach all the children in Franklin County, but they also are extending their outreach in the coming year and are excited to share that Coats for Kids will be given to students in both Franklin and Ripley County.

UWFC reached out to all school counselors in both counties to share information about this program and to let the schools know how to submit coat requests. Coats for Kids will run through November 30th. Please donate through the Facebook fundraiser, their website www.uwfcin.org, or mail a donation to PO Box 105, Brookville, IN, with “Coats for Kids” specified on the memo line.
