Madison, IN—The Jefferson County Commissioners have instituted a burn ban, effective immediately for the County. The ban prohibits the following:
Burning of grass, crops, woodlands, marshes, or similar areas
Burning of leaves, debris, and trash/paper
Campfires, bonfires, and warming fires
Open-pit cooking or charcoal grilling
Use of fireworks or welding.
The Fire Departments and Emergency Management will continue to monitor the weather conditions and will lift the burn ban when conditions are favorable.
