(Statewide) – Decatur County Council member Deana Burkart has been elected President of the Indiana County Councils Association (ICCA).
Burkart currently represents District 3 on County Council.
She also serves as a Board Member of the Association of Indiana Counties (AIC); Board Member of the Economic Development Corporation of Greensburg/Decatur County; Vice President of the Decatur County Emergency Management Agency, and Vice Chair of the Decatur County Republican Party.
Burkart was also County Council Person of the Year in 2023 and previously served as Communications Chair for the Indiana Federation of Republican Women.
In addition to her public service, Burkart is the Market Leader for South Central Indiana with Plum Tree Realty, where she recently oversaw the opening of a new office in Greensburg.
The association says her professional expertise in leadership, communication, and economic development further strengthens her role as ICCA President.
“Serving as President of the Indiana County Councils Association is an honor,” said Burkart. “I look forward to working alongside county officials from across the state to support strong local governance, fiscal responsibility, and policies that benefit our communities.”
Burkart lives on a farm in Decatur County with her husband of 30 years, Bill Burkart. They are the proud parents of two children: Morgan Burkart (26), a law school student and Dean’s List honoree, and Hunter Burkart (24), a software engineer with Availity.
The other officers elected to serve alongside Burkart are:
- Vice President: Scott Rudd, Brown County
- Treasurer: Nancy Marsh, Hendricks County
- Secretary: Terry Miller, Huntington County
The Indiana County Councils Association is a networking, professional development, and legislative advocacy group for all of Indiana’s County Council members. It is also affiliated with the Association of Indiana Counties.
