Bulldogs Win Against Pirates In Middle School Wrestling

The BMS Wrestling team improved their season record to 5-6 with a 60-39 victory over the Greensburg Pirates.

The Bulldogs were down 3-0 after a very hard fought loss in the first match of the evening, but then went on to win the next four matches. Otto Hund tied the score at 3-3 with a 11-5 decision over his opponent. Hunter Laudick then pulled the team ahead with a dominating performance, pinning his opponent in the first period. That was followed with two straight forfeit victories by David Maher and Kyan Scott. The two teams would go back and forth over the next few matches. The Pirates came back to within six points with the score being 21-15 after forfeit at 100 pounds and a victory at 105 pounds. Alex Murphy then added six more points for the Bulldogs with a near effortless pin in the 110 pound weight class adding six more points for the Bulldogs. The Pirates stayed in close proximity with a forfeit at 115 pounds, but it would be short lived. Bobby Weiler widened the gap with another six point pin in the third period pulling the Bulldogs ahead 33-21. Batesville would go on to win their next five matches. Vonley Hund battled it out with his opponent for three periods and ended up finishing with a pin. The action was broken up with a double forfeit at the 135 pound weight class but the winning ensued with Aaron Norman and Josh Mobley both pinning their opponents giving the Bulldogs a 24 point lead at 51-27. Jesus Garcia received a forfeit and added six more points for the Bulldogs. Chase Hamilton went the distance with his opponent but never fell behind. Chase added three team points with a 9-1 decision victory. Greensburg did regain a little ground adding a handful of points with a victory at 195 pounds and a forfeit at heavyweight but it was too little, too late for the Pirates.

In JV matchups David Maher had a tremendous performance pinning his opponent in the third period. Alex Murphy wrestled up a weight class in his JV match to face Greensburg’s varsity 115 pound wrestler and finished with a well earned 3-2 decision. Jesus Garcia was victorious with a first period pin in the JV round. Elijah Stover had 13-3 Major decision victory, and Brandon Manning pinned his opponent in the first round. Tacoma Nicholas wrapped up the evening with a quick first round pin against his opponent.

The BMS Wrestling team will travel to Franklin County for the conference tournament on Saturday. We expect to have a few wrestlers place first in the conference and we hope to place in the top three as a team. Please come out and support the Bulldog wrestlers if you are able. Everyone has put in a lot of hard work this year and they would greatly appreciate your support. Wrestling will begin at 9:15 at Franklin County High School.
