The Batesville wrestling team opened their season with their annual 6-way wrestling meet on Saturday Nov 19th. Competing teams include: Brown County, Knightstown, Scottsburg, Shelbyville, and Southwestern. For the third year in a row Knightstown ended the day with a perfect record of 5-0. The Bulldogs ended the day in fourth place with 2 wins and 3 losses.
Two of the three losses came down to just one individual bout which makes future victories for the Bulldogs look promising. Batesville seniors Michael Deal and Jon Kurtz led the team with five victories over their opponents giving them a perfect start to their season.
Team results were: Batesville 30, Knightstown 36; Batesville 36, Brown County 39; Batesville 40, Shelbyville 30; Batesville 27, Knightstown 51; Batesville 54, Scottsburg 18.
Individual Varsity results were: Michael Deal 5-0, Jon Kurtz 5-0, Caleb Bischoff- Niese 4-1, Chris Schene 4-1, Jackson Wooldridge 4-1, JT Linkel 3-2, Jon Vincent 2-1, Axel Garcia 2-3, Drew Garbarini 2-3, Ethan Meyer 1-4, Xavier King 0-2.
