The 7th Grade Batesville Bulldog Basketball team defeated Greendale Thursday night by a score of 27 to 22. Leading in scoring for Batesville was Jack Grunkemeyer with 11, followed by Sam Johnson with 9, Gus Prickel had 5 and Conner Drake added 2. The Bulldogs played an aggressive defensive game aided by Carter Bohman and Deacon Hamilton who both played aggressively and got some important rebounds. It was a back and forth game at the end and Gus Prickel sealed the win by hitting 5 late game free throws. The Bulldogs are now 5 and 1 on the season.
The 8th Grade Boys Basketball team lost in heartbreaking fashion against an undefeated Greendale team by a score of 37-35. The Bulldogs jumped off to an early lead which was sparked by hustle and effort that continued all night. At the end of regulation, the score was tied 30-30. In overtime, the Bulldogs led by 1 point with 3 seconds left. Greendale’s guard made a last second three point attempt to win Greendale a very hard fought game. Bryson Bonelli led the team offensively scoring 11 points, followed by Max Baumer (9), Jackson Renck (6), Cole Pride (6), and Lyle Oesterling (3). Coach Burcham was super proud of the effort displayed by the 8th Grade Team in front of the home crowd and hopes to continue that trend heading into Columbus Northside. The Bulldogs are now 2-4 on the season.
