Batesville hosted their one and only meet of the year Tuesday night as they welcomed 11 other teams to their 14th annual Batesville Invitational.
I am pretty sure the weather was perfect for a 5K race and the girls took advantage of it. Many had season best times and 6 Bulldogs ran personal records. The girls won their division scoring just 20 points in front of Jac-Cen-Del with 51 points and North Decatur with 78 points. Batesville had all 7 of their varsity runners in the top 11 of the race.
Leading the Dogs was Kelsey Gausman who came in 2nd and broke her own record by 10 seconds with a time of 19:47. Coming in almost together in 3rd and 4th place were Mary Poltrack, 20:40 and Sarah Poltrack, 20:41, and they were followed by Maria Wessel and Emma Gausman who also crossed the line together both at 21:35. This was a personal record for Emma. Katie Baumer was next for the Bulldogs also running a personal record at 21:42 and coming in 8th. Rounding out the top 7 for the ladies was Kylie Lehman in 11th place with 22:10.
Although the JV race was not team scored, awards were given to the top ten. Those receiving awards were Madeleine Robben in 8th place and running a personal record of 22:46, followed by Bre Hartman at 9th and running her best time of the season at 23:32.
Two other girls ran a personal record tonight and they were Mary Catherine Barnett and Heidi Shaw. Overall it was an awesome night!
The Bulldogs travel to Greensburg on Thursday to finish out their regular season at the Greensburg Invitational and then begin to prepare for Conference and Sectionals next week.
