Bulldogs And Pirates Girls Track Sectional Results

The Girls Batesville Track and Field team traveled to Franklin County to begin their tournament series and compete in Sectionals Tuesday night.  The night started off pretty warm but became very nice as the sun went down.  Although Batesville didn’t have any individual Sectional champions we had several runner ups and many advancing to Regional competition next week.  Overall Batesville placed 4th as a team out of 13.

Final team results were as follows: 1) East Central 198, 2) Franklin County 97, 3) Greensburg 69, 4) Batesville 64,  5) South Dearborn 53, 6) North Decatur 44,  7) Lawrenceburg 29, 8) Oldenburg Academy 23,  9) Milan 17, 10) South Ripley 10,  11) South Decatur 9,  12) Jac-Cen-Del and Rising Sun 5

To qualify for Regional competition, competitors must place in the top 3 of their event, meet the state qualifying standards or be one of the 16 best places in the Sectionals feeding into that Regional.  Batesville will have 3 individuals and all 3 relays advancing on to compete at Regionals next Tuesday at Shelbyville.  They include: Stephanie Nobbe-runner up in the 200m dash, 3rd in 100m dash; Haylee Harmeyer-runner up in the 400m dash; Liz Loichinger-4th in the 1600m run (advancing as one of the 16 fastest times); 4 x 800m relay: runner up with Liz Loichinger, Emma Gausman, Britany Venis, Haylee Harmeyer (alternates include: Trysta Vierling, Ava Ralston, Cheyenne Laker, Taylor Rowlett); 4 x 100m relay: 3rd place with Gabby Gibbs, Taylor Rowlett, Morgan Meyer, Stephanie Nobbe (alternates include: Kayla Meyer, Michaela Nobbe, Roxi Hund, Haylee Harmeyer); 4 x 400m relay: 4th place but advancing as one of the 16 fastest times with Stephanie Nobbe, Taylor Rowlett, Emma Gausman, Haylee Harmeyer (alternates include: Shalee Harrington, Roxi Hund, Liz Loichinger, Britany Venis).

The Lady Pirates competed in the IHSAA Sectionals hosted by Franklin County on Tuesday night. Three individual Sectional Championships were claimed by the Greensburg Girls. Brenner Hanna was crowned the 1600 & 3200 Sectional Champion and Lily Grimes defended her Shot Put Championship title and was the Runner Up Champion of the Discus throw. It was a great night as 4 individuals & 1 relay team advanced to Regionals! Anna West advanced in both shot and discus, Cathy Newhart advanced in the 3200, and the 4 x 800 relay team of Cami Jones, Cathy Newhart, Julia Ankney, and Brenner Hanna qualified for Regionals.

As a team the Lady Pirates placed 3rd in a field of 13 teams at Sectionals.

Regionals will be hosted by Shelbyville next Tuesday.
