Buddy Lee Demaree of New Point, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. The son of George Bockover and Zelline Demaree (nee: Lowe) was born on May 18, 1938 in New Point. On September 12, 1959 he married Mary Rousey at New Point Christian Church.
The US Navy Veteran retired from Hill-Rom where he had worked as a sprayer at the plant. Buddy was an outdoorsman who was always involved in something. He was an avid coon hunter and always loved to go fishing, especially with his daughter Gayla. Bowling was another favorite hobby along with playing the guitar. Buddy loved his church and would play his guitar while he and his wife sang for services many times. He did a lot of charity work volunteering for the local community including delivering meals for The Bread of Life in Greensburg. His friends and family say he was a great story teller as well, and always talking about the town of New Point.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Demaree; daughter and son-in-law Gayla and Joe McClure of New Point; five grandchildren, Gerald McClure, Tammy Henry, Katlyn Dixon, Brent Schebler and Tori Fricke along with three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Charles Demaree, Bob Bockover, Jim Bockover and Rolland Bockover; sisters, Ada Mae Baker, Myra Frances Lewis, Bonnie Hacker and Eilene Hacker; and one great granddaughter.
Visitation will be Friday, May 4th from 4-7pm with funeral services at 11:00am on Saturday, May 5, 2018 all at New Point Christian Church. Mark Vice officiating. Burial will follow in the Rossburg Cemetery with military graveside rites performed by the Batesville VFW #3183, and Batesville American Legion Post #271 and escorted by the Indiana Patriot Guard.
